Guests from across the industry gathered at the Park Lane Hilton, London on Wednesday 10th September to celebrate the best of British at the 2014 Baking Industry Awards.

Comedy star Hugh Dennis led the ceremonies as guests enjoyed a drinks reception, 3-course meal and entertainment at the Best of British themed evening where the 2014 winners were announced.

Mark Bennett, Managing Director of recently launched Patisserie Mark Bennett in Sherwood Avenue, Poole, Dorset, won the prestigious accolade ‘Baker of the Year' after also branching out into artisan breads and launching a small chain of shops in just two years. Mark was presented with the award by host Hugh Dennis, and Steve Wells, Managing Director of category sponsor, Brook Food Processing Equipment.
2014 Winners

Other winners on the night included Sainsbury's who were crowned the In-store Bakery Retailer of the Year based on the bakery service in its stores throughout West Yorkshire; family owned company The Village Bakery in Wrexham who picked up the award for the Bakery Manufacturer of the Year, and Scottish Bakery, JG Ross based in Aberdeenshire who won the Customer Focus Award. There was also a special award presented on the night to David Powell for his outstanding contribution to the industry.

Martyn Leek, editor, British Baker said "The Baking Industry Awards represent the pinnacle of bakery in the UK and all of the finalists are to be applauded for their dedication, their skills and their products or services. They have worked hard, some of them for a lifetime, to reach this pinnacle."
