LATEST NEWSWe are pleased to confirm that the 2012 awards will take place on Wednesday 12th September at the Park Lane Hilton, London. Robert Ditty took the title of Baker of the Year, sponsored by Vandemoortele at the 2011 Baking Industry Awards, which took place at Park Lane Hilton on Wednesday 7th September. The judges described Ditty as a “beacon in the industry” and a real example of a hands-on baker, whose strong personality is indelibly stamped on his business. Robert’s two shops are renowned for their breads, including wheaten or brown soda, as well as soda farls and potato cakes. Added to the classic Irish lines are little cakes and an unusually successful line in savouries. The Ditty family have owned the bakery since 1953 and grown it to be a successful retail and wholesale enterprise, with an international client list. Robert says he loves his time in the bakery developing new products. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Christopher Freeman of Dunn’s Bakery - a leading craft baker, a big supporter of students and a fundraiser extraordinaire. Ian Dobbie, MD of Délifrance, sponsors of this award said, The awards recognise achievement and professionalism across the baking industry, rewarding those companies and individuals who drive the industry forward. All winners are members of an exclusive group of the best of the best in the sector. The awards are organised by British Baker.
