“British Bakels are proud to sponsor the Baking Industry Awards for a 10th consecutive year this year,” says Keith Houliston, sales director, craft sector & foodservice.
We are proud to support this fantastic industry and the Speciality Bread Product of the Year category aligns itself perfectly to the growth of our business. We continue to see growth in this sector of the market, thanks to products specifically developed to serve consumer demands.
Successful concentrates such as Country Oven Multiseed Bread, Oat and Barley and Artisan Bread not only provides great-tasting bread, but satisfies demand in the market for nutritional value, while also giving bakers the tools to produce a wide range of speciality goods.
Our focus continues to be on providing bakers with the ingredients for success in their bakeries and new products such as Country Oven Multiseed Pure Bread Concentrate gives bakers the opportunity to deliver authentic sourdough bread and rolls, something consumers are increasing seeking.
Keith continues: “We continue to see marked improvement in the quality of entries for this award. Products supported by stories have brought them to life. We love to see products which deliver everything the bakery stands for, whether this be excellent quality or rich heritage.”

Entrants can be from artisanal and independent craft bakers, producers of branded packaged breads for retail or manufacturers of unwrapped bread for foodservice channels.
This year, Bakels is looking for a record number of entries for the Speciality Bread Product of the Year. Products which not only taste great, but those which have been excellently baked and supported with an enticing story will catch the eye of the judges. The finished good must capture the imagination, with a creative story to add value and be commercially viable.
We are challenging the craft and food service sectors to ‘show us what you got’ and push the boundaries, something which consumers now expect from our industry.
